Sir Terry Pratchett was one of two people who I quoted directly in my dissertation. This line from Feet of Clay was the motto for my introductory chapter:

"This is where we’ve filled ourselves up with so many questions that they’re starting to overflow and become answers."

It resonated with me, because this is what doing research often feels like for me.

It's been a while since the last time I posted something here. So, a little bit update. I finally had my doctoral defense and earned a doctoral degree in pharmacology-immunology field (my dissertation is examining the immunomodulator activity from several plants on lupus nefritis animal model). I finished my study and am now taking a month break before come back to teach in the university where I work.

Also, I am preparing to familiarize myself with this town again. #phdone #phdlife

#Postdocs and #PhD students hit hard by Trump’s crackdown on #science, anxiety and fear grip early-career researchers.
Month of repeated threats to #US science funding, many early-career researchers are fearing for their careers. #Scientists especially vulnerable: graduate students, postdocs and scientists just starting their own labs are the researchers most likely to be living pay cheque to pay cheque, most reliant on federal grants for their income.

Exploring in #OpenSim . My TA gig this semester is a virtual reality in education course. Students are learning to design and create lessons in immersive virtual environments. I'm enjoying the amount of work other creators put into their regions. (This is not a student's build). Big downtime coming up for the grid on March 21st. We'll be moving into Minecraft by then. My professor is letting me do a lot of decision-making, which, I appreciate. #GradStudentLife #phdLife

Sent my first paper in for review to my supervisor. W00t! Looking at my second paper now, I've already started need to get back into Python to run my sensitivity analysis. I have four papers to write within my thesis #PhDLife #PhD #work

This month has been a year 😪

But I set this goal and wanted to share. Times are bad and that’s all the more reason to care for yourself and others. So, did you set any new year resolutions? If so, how are they going?

And yes, goal was inspired by the plant goal @karinnordinphd did a few years ago and coincidentally similar to her 3 million steps goal this year.

question: those of you who went abroad on erasmus during their doctoral studies, what was the experience like? would you recommend doing it? was it worth it?

it seems like part of my doctorate will benefit from archives and mayhaps oral history interviews in northeastern mediterranean and methinks it would make sense to just spend 6-12mo at someplace nearby, instead of many visas and travel back and forth home
