@mosseri just announced that #Threads users can finally follow fediverse accounts. Which means you can now reach 200M people from your Mastodon account without ever using Threads yourself. True decentralization happens on the fediverse!

@Gargron @mosseri

How it feels now I can get followers from both #Threads and #Bluesky (through #BridgyFed).

The only thing holding me back is the quality of my posts 😉

@portlygent @Gargron @mosseri wish bsky was properly federated, or that bridgy is opt-out

@tl @portlygent @Gargron @mosseri That would violate consent. Bridgy fed is opt-in after significant pushback by Mastodon users

@damon @portlygent @Gargron @mosseri Oh I see, but a lot of has happened since february..hope we will found a common ground, bcs it’s a mess atm

@tl @damon @Gargron @mosseri

It looks to me like issue 1471 is primarily talking about opt-out for Bluesky users -> Fediverse, and 835 is about the other direction?

Either way, in the former it looks like people are happy with opt out for AT > AP and instance-level opt-in for AP > AT

@portlygent @tl I think people consent should be respected. I think that more research will be done. The cultures aren’t as different as they would like to believe and have very similar reactions to things, there was just an explosive response to a person scraping up public posts for AI and people lashed out. Snarfed will be very careful in regards to respecting people’s wishes
