Wth is going on?
It's not because every company has to do a big marketing rebrand and simply their logo to a circle that Gnome has to lower itself to such things.
That foot was one of the most iconic logo's in the linux ecosystem besides the penguin and the ubuntu logo....
The original logo was fun, recognizable.

The decision to remove the foot logo was a style choice. That said, we’re exploring ways to bring the logo back in a way that fits the new look.
@gnome I actually didn’t notice the logomark was gone. I think the foot logomark makes the project look dated and am glad it was omitted personally.
@chriswood @gnome It is; however, part of the GNOME identity. I've been very sad to see the GNOME icon mark gradually disappear from the GNOME desktop and promotional materials.
