"Their horizons and orientation, like their hippocampi, are shrinking with the collusion of online providers. In four generations children have gone from roaming up to six miles from home to an average of just 300 yards. Even before Covid, surveys found that three-quarters of children spent less time outdoors than prison inmates. " #smartphones #brainshrinkage

  • Me in my mid 20s: MAN this OpenMoko Neo FreeRunner is almost daily drivable.
  • Me in my late 20s: This Nokia N900 is daily driveable! I hope we can get some momentum going here.
  • Me in my early 30s: This Firefox phone is daily drivable! I hope we can get some momentum going here.
  • Me in my late 30s: Maybe KDE Plasma Mobile and PostmaerketOS or Mobian will eventually become daily driveable?
  • Me in my early 40s: It's all shit isn't it? And even if it's not shit, its not going to be around for long.

Really disillusioned with deGoogled android. Between:

  • Murena's near month long systems failure, the other week. Which broke my trust in them delivering a secure stable reliable product.
  • CalyxOS's general lesser app compatibility.
  • I've been directly insulted by GrapheneOS's lead developer in his subreddit, in the past; and the man has spent years raging against the free software definition which makes me distrust him.

So I think im just back on vanilla Samsung with as much shit disabled, as I can muster?

Meanwhile linux phones have remained 5-7 years away from daily-driveable for what, five to seven years now?

(Not an invitation to talk to me about iOS/iPhone. Spent a year on it. Not for me either.)

(Not really looking to debate whole Daniel Micay guy.)

🇩🇪 Murena team is coming to Germany!

On November 16-17, our team will be participating in #Heldenmarkt Berlin, a key event focused on #sustainability and #ethical consumption.

And we are not coming alone! At #Heldenmarkt we’ll be teaming up with @wetell @commownfr and @shiftphones.

We invite you to visit our booth! Excited to see you in Berlin.

Android 15 was released a week ago, but the battery charging limit (to 80%) is yet to come to Pixel phones.

This feature was first spotted back in July as strings of code within the last Android 15 beta update.

The battery charging limit is expected to launch in December of this year, but it’s entirely possible it ends up delayed.
