Still getting the hang of this new shop platform. I was really spoiled by how easy etsy made everything, until they didn't.

Oh well. Here's another sticker in my shop. This one is inspired by Chemistry, and I programmed a particle system to create the image.

This is my #linocut of New Brunswick, a 🇨🇦province I have visited many times. Its provincial bird, the black-capped chickadee and its tree, the balsam fir cover the hand-carved map of New Brunswick. The block was inked ‘à la poupée’ (with different colours, black, gold and green, in different areas) and printed by hand on lovely Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper.

I haven't been wanting to post any of my art for sale in the past months. I keep waiting for 'better timing'. But it's unlikely to be better for a while.

So, I'm going to start with stickers made from my hand drawn pieces. This one is a bit bigger than I expected, but I still love it. It's bundled with a set of my Chemistry inspired art postcards.

ArtAtomicMushroom Sticker Bundle | ArtAtomicOne sticker, made from one of my hand drawn art inspired by mushrooms. This sticker is bundled with a set of art postcards (10 cards), and an additional sticker. The design of the additional sticker will be a surprise.

Happy birthday to botanist & photography trailblazer Anna Atkins (1799-1871), née Children!

Atkins’ mother died when she was still an infant, but she was close with her naturalist father & received a much more scientific education than was common for women in her time. Her 250 detailed engravings of shells were used to illustrate her father’s translation of Lamarck’s ‘Genera of Shells’; 🧵1/n

Happy birthday to Caroline Herschel (1750 – 1848) a trail blazing woman in #astronomy. Hers was a real life Cinderella story, where rather than marrying a prince, she made a life and career for herself. Marriage her expected role but she was deemed unmarriageable, since a childhood bout of typhus stunted her growth. Her mother thought she should train to be a servant, & purposely stood in the way of her learning French, or music,🧵

Hello Mastodon!
I'm Diane, an illustrator specializing in the medical and scientific fields 🫀🌿🧠

I draw anatomical pictures for doctors, diagrams for biomed companies, animals and plants for museums, and lots of other things...

But I also have my own little universe, somewhere between fantasy and science fiction, and a desire to experiment with traditional techniques.

Lots of things I can't wait to share with you! Here's just a sample...

My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

Some zooms into my "Denizens of the Beach and Copse" painting (2022), showing the Severn Estuary in the Late Devonian. Featured are a group of Elginerpeton, an Ichthyostega, fungi, slime moulds, algae, rhyniophytes, zosterophylls, lycopsids, & equisetids.

A kaleidoscope of butterflies for #WorldButterflyDay. It’s also #PiDay so I feel this the symmetries of this print which I laid out with a compass and some geometric tricks, seems apt.

There are three each of the orange Isabella’s Longwings (Nymphalidae Eueides isabella), three yellow Eastern tiger swallowtails (Papilio glaucus), and three blue Red-Spotted Purples (Limenitis arthemis astyanax) in this #linocut kaleidoscope.⠀
