Hey, #smarthome Expert*innen und #selfhosting Held*innen. Welche Hardware verwendet man so, wenn man, bspw. mit #homeassistant, einen paper-based Familienkalender ersetzen möchte. Mir schwebt eine Art Tablet an der Wand vor, auf dem - vielleicht als Teil eines #dashboard - ein Kalender angezeigt wird, der sich aus der #Nextcloud speist. Dort Termine auch eintragen zu können, wäre natürlich eine notwendige Funktion.

Irgendein #Android Tablet ist natürlich immer zu haben, aber das dauerhaft an den Strom zu hängen ist afaik nicht empfehlenswert. Ein Screen mit Touchfunktion braucht wieder ein extra Device, wie einen #raspberrypi oder so. Wie löst ihr sowas?

Ich habe ja schon sehr viel in der #NextCloud.
Privat vermeide ich die US-Clouds wo immer es geht.

Doch ich kämpfe derzeit noch mit mir:
Bin ich wirklich bereit auf den Komfort des Apple-Universums zu verzichten und mit gruseligen GUIs und Syncproblemen zu kämpfen, um #unplugtrump wirklich durchzuziehen?

Will ich z.B. GraphaneOS?
Will ich Linux auf Devices, die auch noch OS X unterstützen?
Dazu kann ich mich nicht durchringen.

Wie immer, ist Datenschutz und Sicherheit mal wieder eine Frage der eigenen Bequemlichkeit.

I cannot get #Nextcloud CalDAV to work with MacOS. I just get a generic "Unable to verify account name or password"

I'm using an app password, I've tried all the manual settings. I can open the URL in a browser without a problem.

Second time I've configured command line davfs2 to access my Nextcloud Notes - with two different major versions of #Nextcloud

Same thing happens. Read works fine, but nothing I edit in any existing .md, or any new ones I create in the mounted directory, gets persisted.

Using webdav from Nautilus works fine.

what am I missing

Bon je suis en train de tester @OpenCloud dans un docker rapidement. J'ai pas du tout déployé toute l'infrastructure (je suis sur fedora donc les volumes se montent pas bien et j'avais la flemme de relire tous les fichiers compose du projet complet) donc j'ai pas testé l'intégration collabora par exemple.

Mais je peux déjà dire que c'est une dinguerie. La fluidité est juste incroyable comparé à Nextcloud. C'est probablement le meilleur projet que j'ai vu dans ce domaine !

Ich finde es top, dass man über #unplugtrump viele gute Vorschläge und Diskussionen bekommt.
Da ich schon etwas länger #google #Amazon und co meide und meine Daten auf der #Nextcloud liegen, sind meine Hauptanliegen momentan #PayPal endlich los zu bekommen und hoffe darauf, dass #Wero weiter voran kommt. Hier bin ich aber auch für weitere Vorschläge offen. Die Infos zu #Spotify hier fand ich jedoch auch spannend, da muss ich wohl dringend mal dran gehen!

So you can share a doc with someone and they don't get full edit rights, but they can make diff style suggestions to a doc.

Thinking of slowly transitioning my online existence to a server that I own and keep plugged in at home, or rent in a location that is as far from US jurisdiction as possible. The problem with the later is that that it's going to be expensive. With the former is that it's less failure-tolerant and requires more maintenance on my side.

I'd want to run #NextCloud for my family, and perhaps #immich (once it's stable), so the price will add up quickly because of the tech requirements.

iPhone > Android ohne Google
Viel Aufwand im Klein-Klein bis alles läuft (Banking 2FA, PasswortManager, Wallet, Fotos, D-Ticket,...)

Hey folks, I'm looking at something to replace the file syncing from Microsoft and Apple. NextCloud looks promising. Anyone have experience with #NextCloud or similar "run your own" cloud sync tools? My main use case is backing up photos and videos from my family's phones.

Can anyone walk me through setting up email through @nextcloud ?
I have my own domains (1 for work, 1 for personal).

As in, walk me through it in an "imagine you're explaining to a 3 year old" way.

I used to be able to figure this stuff out but autistic burnout and covid brain fog have destroyed my ability to thing entirely.
