Hippo 🍉<p>With <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/GoogleChrome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GoogleChrome</span></a>'s "incognito" mode, *you* can't track what websites you've visited, but <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Google" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Google</span></a> (and therefore a lot of other websites, advertisers and whatnot) can and do :blobfoxdetective:</p><p>Using <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/LibreWolf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LibreWolf</span></a> with history turned on, I have it the other way round: I can track *my own* history, but other people can't! :librewolf:</p><p>Revolutionary, right?</p>

There is also <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/LibreWolf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LibreWolf</span></a>. Currently, the existing alternatives seem still immature, and the trade-off between usability and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/privacy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>privacy</span></a> is challenging. Additionally, there is <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Servo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Servo</span></a>, an engine developed by the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> Foundation. However, many have moved to <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Brave" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Brave</span></a>. For now, I will try Zen, seem nice, waiting for other alternatives to mature. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Firefox</span></a> is going down a dead end</p>

bit101<p>OK then, trying LibreWolf (privacy based fork of Firefox).</p><p>First criteria: does it work?</p><p>- Got my important extensions installed and tested. Set up my pinned tabs. Logged into my important accounts. So far, so good.</p><p>I'll have to give it a few days to see if there are any pain points. This is the hardest I've pushed this tiny workstation so far, averaging 13GB in use and all eight cores (16 threads) pegged to 100%. </p><p>I love open source!</p>
