PineNote Week Two mini-update. I'm just using the device now. It doesn't feel like a shiny new device anymore (post honeymoon) but I'm still enamored (to stretch the metaphor). I have been using it as a reading and writing device for the most part, single function at a time, and I'm quite happy with it.

I'm not really doing any application switching and using it as a full-Linux device (which it is)... BUT, I'm going away on a 5 day trip and considering just taking the PineNote (with a wireless keyboard) instead of a laptop. Maybe I should and report on that experience!? Bottom-line, that thought doesn't make me nervous (I'll get it on my Tailscale network and leave it without a lock-screen maybe? Taking suggestions!)

If you haven't seen the PineNote overview and rough edges videos, they still hold true after two weeks of usage. I don't generally worry about charging it day to day, aside from that still no other thoughts on battery yet.

@thelinuxexperiment

It's obvious that AOSP is on borrowed time. There's only so long before Google closes the source (eg Project Fuschia ) or limits enough it might as well be closed (ie makes it even more dependent on a million closed source Google apps).

Enjoy it while it lasts (which may not be long), but let's get going creating, using and supporting Linux phones so we have a decent option when open source Android fully dies!

Fixed my #EVGA precision X1 problem: forums.evga.com/FindPost/29805

Old issue. Will never be fixed, app unsupported (EVGA stopped making GPUs sigh). Another win for #FOSS, wonder if there's a program I can use to replace this?

If anyone else has it, the solution is in PIECES in old forums, but for me changing the setting, apply + save at the bottom, then manually closing the app while in the setup menu fixed it.

forums.evga.comPresicion X1 not saving - EVGA ForumsSo I thought for sure finally taking the time to update Precision X1 to the latest version would have fixed the save issue.You know the "Target" piece in the top right?  So I don't have to monkey around with my OC, I do the lazy 120% power and unlink it and set GPU temp to 84 to keep fans under...

Someone: "Looking for an easy-to-use distro with Flatpak for relative."
Some random person: "What about a highly customized NixOS?"

I could swear they do this on purpose to make the life's of non-techies a nightmare.
