Hello lovely Fediverse! 2020 will be the year of moving my content to federated and decentralised platforms.

Anyone here running a instance or having an account on a nice one that would be OK to welcome me?

Thanks <3

"The Environmental Movement Needs to Reckon with Its Racist History" — Because racism in environmentalism hasn’t gone away, and it’s holding the movement back.

Important read by Julian Brave

Veille : "Expansion, convergence des combats : il se passe clairement quelque chose dans le secteur technologique. "

"No more business as usual. What we need is massive, swarming, non-violent, uncontainable civil disobedience" — great and necessary talk "RELIVE: SERVER INFRASTRUCTURE FOR GLOBAL REBELLION"

My cat struggled for half an hour to kick this medical cone off but it wouldn't move so he collapsed like this and stared off into space, contemplating his new life. I made it into a cookie.

"Deux jeunes paumés" qui sortent des études supérieures et se heurtent à l'Anthropocene décident de documenter leurs réflexions... C'est et c'est en ligne ici :

J'y fais une apparition au milieu de @vmignerot , Delphine Batho, Arthur Keller, etc.

“It is only the hyper-privileged who are now saying, ‘I’m not going to give my kids this,’ or, ‘I’m not on social media,’” says Rumman Chowdhury, a data scientist. “You actually have to be so comfortable in your privilege that you can opt out of things.”

"They say we can’t blame these companies for the erosion of privacy or democracy or trust in public institutions — that was all going to happen sooner or later."

Yeah, because some other rich, white privileged dudes had already prepared the landing pad for it.

"The men and women who colonized America largely saw progress as a march, a continual straight path, forward at all times, never to be questioned or slowed."

Innovation and progress at all costs as a new form of colonialism.

Very, very good read.

This is the perfect encapsulation of what is wrong with the whole Silicon Valley / techbro shebang. They shrug everything off, they refuse any responsibility in the creation of systems that make people's lives worse and they are not even held accountable for it.

"When I asked the man behind the system [...] how the students in these classes feel about being watched, he admitted that they didn’t like it. They felt violated and surveilled, he said, but he shrugged off any implication that it was his fault."

Don't Panic! Antistatique's December newsletter is packed with great, inspiring, surprising, interesting links. Sustainable living, how Google tracks you, tech issues, silly branding, paper prototyping, font making, design ethics.

"How we scaled our design system to unleash Skyscanner’s new brand" really interesting to see how they handled the redesign and how a strong design system helped them switch smoothly towards the new identity!

J'ai ouvert #Flus la semaine dernière. J’ai déjà plus d’inscrit·es que prévu, merci ! 😊 Afin que vos premiers pas se passent le mieux possible, j'ai écrit un article pour bien démarrer :

tech, fashPol

Just a reminder that tech companies move heaven and earth to keep children from seeing boobs, but pretend like deplatforming queerphobes, supremacists, and literal nazis is an unassailable technical challenge.

At one point the internet was literally mostly porn, and it's still way harder to filter porn than fash stuff. The decision to let fascism proliferate on the internet was an intentional decision, for god's sake quit giving the techbros who made these decisions ANY benefit of the doubt. Look at the ugly ugly truth, stare it in the face, it's good for healing from gaslighting. The internet doesn't suck, techbros suck.

Entreprécariat : de l’entrepreneuriat à la précarité, les deux faces d’un même modèle

Long article d'Hubert Guillaud sur le livre de Silvio Lorusso dont j'avais déjà parlé ici :

”Our house is on fire”…

The European parliament has declared a global “climate and environmental emergency” as it urged all EU countries to commit to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
