@stephaniewalter I'm on the same page. A designer should treat the need for minimum contrast levels the same as any other "constraint", like needing layout to be responsive, fonts to be readable, or images to be fast loading.

We wouldn't complain that or aesthetics are damaged because we don't use 20mb images.

I paused before finishing this toot, did a rework of the "aesthetic" design that meets contrast requirements and added it to the Twitter thread. IMO it looks effectively identical.

@mcpaccard Sorry to be off topic, I just saw your mention of design ethics and it piqued my curiosity. Perhaps you could make a quick post on the topic when you get a moment?

@slightlyflightyone@vulpine.club Really well said.

@KopfKrieg@mastodon.bayern True on all counts!

@KopfKrieg@mastodon.bayern Thanks for the thoughtful feedback. I do know it's got a few issues, but it's the best solution that also works for my friends and family. There are still a couple who won't even use Telegram and insist on sticking with FB Messenger, so I'll take the wins I can get. :)

Bit confused about and on sites. If I see a WP blog on fediverse.network how do I know what handle to search for and follow via ?

The rumours are true, we are working on a mobile app.

- Snap, Caption, Post

- No timelines, only for posting

- Only works with Pixelfed

- Android and iOS versions

- Will continue to support 3rd party APIs

Beta version due out next year! #pixelfed

I've been using and loving on my phone for a while now. My must-have apps: @fdroidorg @Tutanota, @fedilab, @riotchat, @TwidereProject, @Telegram, @OpenVPN, @Firefox,

Using Twitter and at the same time feels a lot like dual booting Windows and .

Twitter / Windows have a bunch of people doing interesting things I want to be involved with, but I sure do wish they'd all come over to Mastodon / Linux instead.

I like to keep my online conversations mostly to design and tech, but I have to break a bit because some of my fellow Aussies over on Twitter are making me flabbergasted.

Apparently it's the fault of environmental activists, and not climate change, that half our country is on fire in "unprecedented", "catastrophic" conditions.

I mean....

Sigh.... :(

re: violence; pol; re: techposting; future of Linux commercialization

@sean @slightlyflightyone@vulpine.club It's not completely impossible. I've begrudgingly accepted they're making the best open source code editor for web dev right now in the form of VSCode.

Of course, the binary released is proprietary with telemetry, sigh.... But I use VSCodium, compiled from source without telemetry. But still, it's a far cry from Frontpage back in the day.

People in , , or any other , come and join our cozy little growing Mastodon community over at mastodon.design

re: techposting; future of Linux commercialization

@slightlyflightyone@vulpine.club "Monetization" is just the worst word isn't it.

My biggest concern on a personal level is just wanting to retain my confidence that when I boot into Linux I can relax, nobody is tracking what I'm doing in my own space. Because of the compulsory telemetry, using Windows feels like being out in a public shopping space, and I don't want to lose the ability to "go home".

techposting; future of Linux commercialization

@slightlyflightyone@vulpine.club I share your sense of nervousness but hope that the strength of open licenses keeps software-freedom in the Linux world strong.

Because of Azure, Linux is arguably a more important part of MS business than Windows now so they're going to be in for the long haul.

As you say, it's somewhat uncertain the direction the kernel might go in the future. Will be a tough job for the maintainers to balance everything asked of them I think.

So I just discovered the reworked Live Path Effects panel in the 1.0 beta and it's looking slick as. Lots of new stuff to tinker with here that I think is going to change my Inkscape workflow significantly.

Hi mastodon.design. I'm Kezz, I'm a web designer as my main focus but I also like to do a little game art / game dev and other digital art as an when I'm able.

Looking forward to chatting with you all.
